This weekend, the next Overwatch League regional tournament kicks off as 19 teams go at it again for another chance to say they are the best. While there are no surprises at all in the Asia Region, with Shanghai getting another first-round buy, Vancouver has snagged a top-four spot and Atlanta is up at #2 for the region. While the results may end up the same, we are geared up for another exciting weekend of Overwatch with the OWL 2020 Summer Showdown ahead of us.
OWL 2020 Summer Showdown Asia Bracket First Round
- London Spitfire vs. Seoul Dynasty (winner goes to face Shanghai Dragons)
- Guangzhou Charge vs. Chengdu Hunters
- New York Excelsior vs. Hangzhou Spark
By all accounts, Shanghai should be able to win this tournament again, with the easiest path to the Asia region’s finals. It includes a potential rematch with Seoul Dynasty, hopefully giving us a match as entertaining as the finals of the May Melee. New York look to be the other main competitor from this region, as Guangzhou has been without Nero recently. While Eileen and Happy have been working to gel together, despite running odd DPS picks at times, they look nowhere near consistent enough compared to what New York runs.

In the Asian region we saw some major one-sided games, such as the New York Excelsior and the Guangzhou Charge won their match in a dominant 3-0 fashion. One the other hand, The Seoul Dynasty managed to beat the London Spitfire 3-1.
North American Bracket First Round
- Los Angeles Valiant vs. Toronto Defiant (winner faces San Francisco Shock)
- Los Angeles Gladiators vs. Washington Justice (winner faces Vancouver Titans)
- Florida Mayhem vs. Houston Outlaws (winner faces Philadelphia Fusion)
- Paris Eternal vs. Dallas Fuel (winner faces Atlanta Reign)
Given the way San Francisco was able to manhandle Philadelphia when they met last weekend, the Shock are the Overwatch Betting favourites to win again. Their path to the final is predetermined at this point, having to potentially play the likes of the Valiant, Gladiators, and Titans that are nowhere near their level of play. Florida and Philadelphia could play each other again, a rematch of their May Melee series where Florida pulled off the upset.
