This weekend, the Overwatch League will be putting on a special OWL May Melee, sort of like a mid-season tournament from past seasons. Each of the teams in the North America and Asia regions will play in an elimination bracket from Friday to Sunday. There will be no hero pools in play, so all strategies will be on the table.
North America Region
North America looks like the more wide-open region, as some teams in the knockout rounds, like Paris, Atlanta, and the Los Angeles Gladiators, could get on a streak to win NA. In more likelihood, San Francisco and Philadelphia appear to the teams most likely to reach the finals, boasting insane roster depth even though San Francisco lost Sinatraa and Architect in recent weeks. Philadelphia hardly breaks a sweat even when teams push them to a game five scenario. The other teams I could possibly see pulling off some upsets are the Atlanta Reign and Florida Mayhem, with Atlanta featuring similarly comparable depth and Florida looking to have finally gotten its act together after two and half seasons.
OWL May Melee Asia Region
Despite the Guangzhou Charge having a number one seed and a bye from the quarterfinals, the Shanghai Dragons look to have the most complete team that can run any composition. Their route would to the title would go through the London Spitfire and New York Excelsior, a manageable route for them. Guangzhou meanwhile would have to play either Seoul or Hangzhou, and all three teams seem to be evenly matched.
