The New York Excelsior were one of the first dominant teams in the OWL’s inaugural season. They are based out of New York City and are recognized as the first professional esports team of New York. The Excelsior are owned by a local NY esports organization called Andbox. Their team sports a dark blue and black colourway, and their logo is a series of linear arrows that eventually cross in an X pattern.

New York Excelsior Roster

Currently, there are only 4 active players on the Excelsior roster. They are as follows:

  • Jongryeol “Saebyeolbe” Park – DPS
  • Libero Haeseong “Libero” Kim – DPS
  • Seonghyun “JJoNak” Bang – Support
  • Anamo Taesung “Anamo” Jung – Support

These 4 players represent much of the core skill vested in the Excelsior’s organization. These players are mostly composed of proven veterans who have a longstanding connection to the Excelsior organization. Apart from them, the remainder of the New York Excelsior’s roster departed following the end of the 2020 season. However, by keeping these 4 players the Excelsior are assured to have a solid base to recruit new talent to.

New York Excelsior Achievements

Speaking on their past achievements, the Excelsior were originally one of the strongest teams in the first season of the Overwatch League. They finished first in both the Stage 2 and 3 matches and had the best overall record. However, they couldn’t win the ultimate achievement and finished in a tie for 3rd/4th at the end of Season 1. Since then, the Excelsior have remained a consistent, high performing team in the Overwatch League, making them a safe Overwatch Bet. In both the 2019 and 2020 seasons, the Excelsior finished in 3rd place in playoff competition, and this could be seen throughout the whole season with their high Overwatch betting odds. They have retained a strong, talented roster, but have been so far unable to clinch the championship victory in the League. Perhaps with upcoming new additions to an already solid core, the Excelsior will be able to breakthrough.
